Privacy Policy

Your coins, your photos, your data. Here's exactly what CoinSnap collects, why, and the control you keep over it.

Effective date: July 8, 2026  ·  Last updated: July 8, 2026

CoinSnap ("CoinSnap," "we," "us," or "our") is an AI-powered coin identification app that helps collectors recognize, catalog, value, and discuss coins. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the CoinSnap mobile app and related services (the "Service"). By using CoinSnap, you agree to the practices described here.

In short: we collect only what we need to identify your coins and run your account. We don't sell your personal data, and you can request deletion of your account and content at any time.

2Coin photos & AI identification

When you photograph a coin, the image is sent securely to our servers and our AI providers to return an identification, estimated value, and reference details. Photos are stored so you can revisit past scans and build your collection.

  • We access your camera and photo library only when you choose to add a photo.
  • Identification images may be processed by trusted third-party AI services acting on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.
  • You can delete individual scans, and deleting your account removes your stored photos.

3How we use information

  • Identify coins and provide values, catalog data, and reference articles.
  • Create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
  • Power features you use — collections, official sets, the Penny assistant, gamification, and community.
  • Process purchases, subscriptions, and restore transactions.
  • Send push notifications you've opted into (e.g., spot-price alerts, activity).
  • Detect abuse, prevent fraud, debug, and improve the Service.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

Where the GDPR applies, we process data on the basis of performing our contract with you (providing the Service), your consent (e.g., notifications, camera access), our legitimate interests (security, improvement), and legal obligations.

5How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these limited cases:

  • Service providers — cloud hosting and storage (e.g., object storage), AI identification and assistant providers, and analytics/crash tools, all acting under contract on our behalf.
  • Payments — Apple processes App Store purchases and subscriptions; we receive transaction status, not your full payment details.
  • Community — content you post is visible to other users by design.
  • Legal & safety — where required by law or to protect rights, users, and the public.
  • Business transfers — as part of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, with notice where required.

6Purchases & subscriptions

Paid features and subscriptions are billed through your Apple App Store account. Apple manages billing, renewals, and refunds under Apple's own terms and privacy policy. We store your subscription status to unlock features and to restore purchases across your devices.

7Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain limited records to meet legal, security, or accounting requirements.

8Security

We use encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), access controls, and reputable infrastructure providers to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and continually improve our safeguards.

9Your rights & choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing.

  • Access & deletion — request your data or account deletion from within the app or by emailing us.
  • Camera & photos — manage permissions in your device settings.
  • Notifications — turn push notifications on or off in device settings.
  • Community content — edit or remove your posts at any time.

10Children's privacy

CoinSnap is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

11Changes to this policy & contact

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Your continued use of CoinSnap after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
