Your coins, your photos, your data. Here's exactly what CoinSnap collects, why, and the control you keep over it.
CoinSnap ("CoinSnap," "we," "us," or "our") is an AI-powered coin identification app that helps collectors recognize, catalog, value, and discuss coins. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the CoinSnap mobile app and related services (the "Service"). By using CoinSnap, you agree to the practices described here.
We collect the following categories of information:
| Category | Examples | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Device & account | Device identifier, platform (iOS), app version, country/region, and an anonymous account created for you | Automatically on sign-in |
| Coin photos | Images you capture or upload for identification | You |
| Collection data | Coins you save, tags, notes, grades, and set progress | You |
| Community content | Posts, comments, polls, and profile details you choose to share | You |
| Assistant chats | Questions and messages you send to "Penny," our AI assistant | You |
| Purchase data | Subscription status and transaction receipts (processed by Apple) | App Store |
| Usage & diagnostics | Feature usage, crash logs, and performance data | Automatically |
CoinSnap uses anonymous device-based sign-in. We do not require your name, email, or a password to use core features, though you may add a display name for the community.
When you photograph a coin, the image is sent securely to our servers and our AI providers to return an identification, estimated value, and reference details. Photos are stored so you can revisit past scans and build your collection.
Where the GDPR applies, we process data on the basis of performing our contract with you (providing the Service), your consent (e.g., notifications, camera access), our legitimate interests (security, improvement), and legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these limited cases:
Paid features and subscriptions are billed through your Apple App Store account. Apple manages billing, renewals, and refunds under Apple's own terms and privacy policy. We store your subscription status to unlock features and to restore purchases across your devices.
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain limited records to meet legal, security, or accounting requirements.
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), access controls, and reputable infrastructure providers to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and continually improve our safeguards.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing.
To exercise any right, contact [email protected]. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
CoinSnap is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Your continued use of CoinSnap after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
